Harbourside Elementary opened in September 2001. Before it opened five schools were closed: South Bar School, Jamieson, East Mount, Don Bosco and Elmwood School. All these students then moved to Harbourside Elementary. They felt that Whitney Pier would be an excellent location for this combination of students. The students come from an area encompassing Kilkenny Lake Rd right to the end of the overpass on Victoria Road. The Principal is Paul MacDonald who is retiring next year. Vice Principal is Stephanie Black. There are 35 staff members and 388 students in grades primary to six. Harbourside is known for its multi-ethnic population and has a Variety Show every year with Multi-Culturalism as the theme.
